I recently hosted a party for some of my lady friends: A Multi-Tasking Party.
We celebrated the finish of our DIY major kitchen remodel, featured a friend who represents a line of cleaning products: Water at Home, and had a Fall Fashion Flip where everyone brought jewelry, scarves, sweaters to trade.
I’m showing some of the photographs of the decorations. I have a long buffet which I love to decorate seasonally. I took away the Halloween decor which was somewhat macabre and dark this year(spiders, gargoyles, moss, lichen-covered branches, rats, and crows) and resurfaced with cones, berries, vine pumpkins, and Indian corn. The colors of fall are so rich and opulent-love!
The floral centerpiece had fresh salal leaves from my yard along with branches of calicarpa (aka, beauty berry), crocosmia pods, and Japanese maple branches with golden leaves. I added purchased alstromeria for a punch of red and then tucked in sprigs of silk burnt-orange rosebuds (yes, silk flowers-they take on more of a realistic look surrounded by fresh foliage).
I found a magazine image with Henry David Thoreau’s quote which I had on a special stand on the food table. “I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”
I offered mini carrot cake cupcakes, brie stuffed mushrooms with balsamic glazed onions, brownies, mini quiches, pears with boursin cheese and sour cream, hot artichoke/chili dip, croissants with whipped butter and assorted jams, and shortbread cookies. The signature cocktail was an appletini with cider, vodka, and cinnamon schnapps. The last ingredient made it delightfully spicy and yummy.
