There has been a wondrous thread that has inexplicably woven throughout my life, bringing me to where I am now. What drives me is an insatiable curiosity about things, wondering how to do it and how to make it different. I am in constant motion and relaxation to me means creating in the studio or garden.
I started cooking and sewing in junior high thanks to my mother who encouraged me and taught me well. In high school, I excelled in cooking and sewing in the home economics classes. Then off to college to major in home economics (more garment and food courses) only to find my calling in early childhood education.
I moved to Bainbridge Island, WA and co-founded a preschool. A few years later, I partnered a catering business and then launched a floral design/craft cottage industry. Sprinkled in amongst that, I had a successful line of earrings with Nordstrom stores, began teaching craft classes in my studio, and was decorations chair of many public school graduation parties.
In the world of retail, I joined with two enterprising women and opened a ladies boutique where I showcased my jewelry, floral designs, and home accessories. Later I was the gift buyer and merchandiser for a large garden center. After that I coordinated “Bainbridge in Bloom,” a nationally recognized garden tour. I was also honored to have my garden appear on an HGTV gardening show.
But with all of that, my proudest achievement is to say I am the mother of three amazingly talented and wonderful children and the grandmother of a simply perfect grandson.
